Richard Yutaka Fukuhara
1944 – 2018

FUKUHARA, RICHARD YUTAKA, age 74 passed away on December 4, 2018. The son of Henry Kiyoshi and Mary Sadako Fukuhara, Richard was born on August 20, 1944, at Minidoka Internment Camp. Richard was an advertising photographer and in his later years created the Shadows for Peace non-profit organization that produced forums and shows to remember the victims and survivors (hibakusha) of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings in 1945.

Richard was a talented artist, photographer, designer and active member of WE Rotary. He regularly attended Rotary conferences and related events. He created the logo that appears on our website and used that logo to make Rotary business cards for many of us. He was smart, fun, ambitious for peace, and too young to die. His death took us all by complete surprise because he looked and acted at least a decade younger than he was. We miss him.
