I grew up in Oregon where I graduated from college, and then pursued my interest in other cultures by living and teaching school on the island of Grand Cayman in the West Indies. Following that, I lived in Alaska for 51 years where I taught school and worked in teacher training in Inupiat and Athabascan Indian Native Alaskan villages. After living in rural villages for seven years, my husband and I moved to Homer, Alaska where we reared our two children. Teaching elementary school music there for 20 years was a joy. Since retiring from teaching I have written and published four children’s books. For many years I joined my Rotarian husband in Friendship Exchanges, hosting Rotarians from many countries, and volunteering on Rotary projects. After his passing in 2018 I am spending more time with my children and grandchildren, traveling, and continuing my writing. I missed involvement with Rotary and truly believe it is a valuable path to peace. I am delighted to be a part of Rotary again as a member of the WE Rotary Club and actively supporting Rotary projects around the world. — Dotty Cline
